Librarian– The Ramaz Lower School
In the heart of New York City is Ramaz - a Modern Orthodox Day School with a rich history of Jewish education, academic distinction, and nurturing of individual abilities and aspirations.

The Ramaz School is seeking an ECC/ Lower School Librarian for the 2022-2023 school year for Nursery through Fourth Grade.

The ideal candidate for this position will:
-Actively create a welcoming and respectful environment within the library.
-Instruct weekly library periods for all classes in nursery through fourth grade classes that combine instruction, read-alouds, and open access time for students to check out materials.
-Integrate library technology into instruction.
-Develop overall library policies and procedures, including a fair and consistent circulation policy.
-Work with groups and individual students to provide for diverse student needs and reading levels.
-Provide for classes and individual students to use the library for classroom research and projects as well as individual investigation and independent reading.
-Assist students and teachers in utilizing library databases for classwork and independent research.
-Develop and implement reading initiatives to motivate each student in independent reading.
-Sponsor special programming when appropriate, such as author visits.
-Conduct ongoing collection analysis to add and weed materials on an ongoing basis.
-Professionally organize the library for optimal ease of access to resources and maintains an orderly environment.

The Lower School ECC/LS librarian should be a forward-thinking and passionate educator, with a bachelor’s degree or higher in literacy and/or library science, who understands the mission of the Ramaz School. The ECC/Lower School Librarian will report to the Lower School Director of General Studies.
